Hello, my friend,
How are things on your end?
Do you feel the weight of this week? The elections in Nigeria have taken their toll on us. We are here though, through it all, living, functioning, and thriving in the different capacities we operate in.
I never thought the day would come when I sit and watch the news all day. Well, not all day but for a few hours.
It goes to show that even though we try to be self-aware and avoid triggers, sometimes they come and find us.
My sleep was affected, I comfort ate, and I lamented emotionally like most.
The game changer for me was my faith; it helped me stay grounded and prevented me from slipping down the slope of hopelessness.
My vision for Nigeria remains beautiful; one day, it will be my reality.
It is important that we realize they we can show ourselves violence by internalizing the political content we are consuming and getting into a space of anger and unrest.
Be conscious of how you feel and know that you have control. Thoughts are fleeting; allow them to come and release them again and again.
What helped you get through this week?
When in doubt
- Stop
- Breathe
- Change your thoughts
- Change your activity.
Spring is here
For me it represents a new beginning, fertility, freshness and potential.
I am thinking about my garden and what to grow. I have some definite plants and then some maybes. I really enjoyed growing kale and potatoes, lazy gardener style.
This year, maybe I will try my hand at some peppers. Have you ever tried growing food? It’s one of the most rewarding activities, and it supports good mental health too. Try it.
Some things I am interested in this week
Remember, there is so much within your control. Focus on those, and work on the person you want to become.
