Hi dear friend,
I hope you are well and the month is off to a good start for you and your loved ones.
When we consider how the days blend into weeks, months, and years, we can truly testify that the years go by quickly.
It makes me pause and reflect on what I am doing with the gift of time. Let’s go into it, shall we?
Understanding time not just as a ticking clock, but as the canvas of our lives.
Time.
It’s one of the most constant yet mysterious forces in our lives.
We chase it, we waste it, we cherish it—and sometimes, we wish we could pause it.
But what is time really, beyond the seconds on a clock or the dates on a calendar? How do we relate to its presence, passage, and value in a world that’s always in a rush?
Let’s slow down for a moment and explore this together. 💬
My mentor recently lost her dad and watching her grieve that loss was such a privilege, seeing how the passing of a father impacted an adult child, The end of an era, a relationship, a live connection, the love, the memories, the acceptance that it was time and sharing the pain as it was happening.

The Presence of Time: Living in the Now
We often think of time as something ahead of us or behind us—regretting the past, planning the future. But rarely do we stay in the present.
And yet, the present is the only time we actually live in.
“Now is all there ever is.” – Eckhart Tolle
Whether it’s sipping coffee in the morning sun, laughing with a friend, or just taking a deep breath, being present helps us make the most of time, not just count it, but experience it.

Being the hyper productive person I tend to be, I am always in the future, sometimes to the detriment of the present, and learning from the past.
I was forced to my knees when I realised I was missing out on my own life by being on the move all the time, not pausing to acknowledge the things going on right now, taking them for granted, not realising I was actually living in an answered prayer; it was yesterday’s hope.
This epiphany occurred in 2019. I became obsessed with finding a chance to stay present and learning about my own avoidance of the present moment. The why, the how, and the what of it all.
I came up with using the 5 senses to ground myself, and finding an easy way to do that was using this guide.
Here is how to increase self-awareness using your 5 senses
Try this:
- Pause for 60 seconds and just notice your breath.
- Put your phone down during a meal and truly taste your food.
- Journal one thing each day that makes you feel truly alive.
Mindful living isn’t just a trend—it’s how we honor the presence of time, how we partner with the creator or time itself- God.

The Passage of Time: Seasons, Cycles, and Change
Time moves.
And whether we like it or not, it takes us along.
The days turn into weeks, weeks into years—and suddenly, we’re not who we used to be.
But here’s the beautiful thing: Time brings growth.
- It softens pain.
- It reveals the truth.
- It teaches us what matters.
We go through seasons—some joyful, some hard—but all meaningful. And through them, we evolve.
“Don’t rush the process. Good things take time.”
So if you’re feeling stuck or impatient, remember: Change is happening, even when you can’t see it yet.

The Value of Time: The Currency You Never Get Back
Unlike money, you can’t earn more time.
Once a moment is gone, it’s gone.
That’s why it’s the most precious thing you own. Did you know that? Of course you did, but did you think about it deeply? Every second you give to Instagram, Netflix, Prayer, Whatsapp, Meetings, etc cannot be gotten back. So I start to see my time as valuable and I invest it more mindfully.
Ask yourself:
- Am I spending my time or investing it?
- Do my daily habits align with what I say I value?
- Who gets the best of my time, and are they worthy of it?
Trade wisely:
- Trade scrolling for writing reflections.
- Trade busyness for meaning.
- Trade obligation for intention.
Your peace, your passion, your people—they deserve your time.
Final Thoughts: Time as a Gift
At its core, time is a gift—not guaranteed, always limited, deeply valuable.
- So take it seriously, but not too seriously.
Use it, but don’t hoard it.
Spend it with those you love.
Give it to what fuels you - Give God your time
And don’t forget to be here now.
Whether you’re building, healing, resting, or dreaming…
Now is your time.
Until next time, stay authentic.
Stay resilient, and continue to honour your needs.
Live wholeheartedly,
Amaka
