Hi my friend,
Welcome back to Mind of Makus.
We have started this month’s series on writing and your mental health. Last week, we saw a few ways writing can be a tool to support positive mental health. Writing is a mindful act that can transform your mind from a state of unrest to pure calmness and peace, allowing the quality of your decisions to progressively improve. Take your time to read through it if you haven’t.
Let us take a look at life’s challenges and how writing can see you through tough seasons. Our mental health ca. Be greatly impacted by our socal environment, things like finances, relationships, housing and work environment greatly matter to our overall wellbeing.
Just as writing can get you walking into a better place, the act of writing can also help you through conditions of life. Recently, my friend G.O.M passed away, and even though i have declined writing tributes in the past, I knew this one needed to leave my chest and I bravely put my thoughts down on what our friendship meant to me, it helped me feel less helpless and more grateful that I got the privilege to know this awesome human.
So I urge you to give it a shot, write down how you feel about things and see what happens. A few practical tip will be waiting as you read on.
In the hustle and bustle of our daily lives, it’s easy to feel like we’re drowning in a sea of responsibilities, stressors, and uncertainties. But fear not, for in the midst the chaos lies a beacon of hope: the humble art/act of writing.
You don’t have to be articulate to write, you just start by putting a few words down, I like to start with one word and then put an arrow and then the next….. it all unfolds from there.
Let’s start with stress relief. We’ve all been there—those moments when it feels like the weight of the world is bearing down on our shoulders.
But before you reach for that stress ball (or that bottle of wine), consider picking up a pen instead. Studies have shown that the act of writing can be incredibly cathartic, helping to release pent-up emotions, soothe frazzled nerves, and bring a sense of calm to the chaos.
The benefits of writing extend far beyond stress relief. In fact, writing can be a powerful tool for self-discovery. Whether you’re journaling about your thoughts and feelings, exploring your innermost desires through poetry, or creating characters who mirror your own struggles, writing allows you to delve deep into the recesses of your mind and uncover hidden truths about yourself.
Let’s not forget about problem-solving. They say that writing is thinking on paper, and truer words were never spoken.
By putting your thoughts into words, you can gain clarity on complex issues, untangle knotty problems, and brainstorm creative solutions to life’s challenges.
Plus, there’s something incredibly empowering about seeing your thoughts materialize on the page—it’s like holding the key to unlocking your own potential.
So whether you’re facing a major life decision, grappling with a difficult emotion, or simply seeking a moment of peace in the midst of chaos, remember that writing can be your faithful companion on the journey. I am always doing pros and cons list and they help make complex decisions seem simple.
So grab your favorite pen (or fire up your laptop) and let the words flow. Who knows what discoveries await you on the page?
Until next week Stay authentic, Stay resilient, Stay writing
Be yourself and keep getting better at it.
Live wholeheartedly,
Amaka

You yourselves are all the endorsement we need. Your very lives are a letter that anyone can read by just looking at you. Christ himself wrote it—not with ink, but with God’s living Spirit; not chiseled into stone, but carved into human lives—and we publish it.
